Nicole Theriault: Two Faces of Love

PART of Nicole Theriault's secret to success is that her songs and her singing appeal to several age groups. Last year, she issued the album Nicole Bhan Du which projected an image of her as a strong, vibrant and energetic woman. Her latest album, Two Faces of Love, vulnerable woman faced with the two sides of love.

Two Faces of Love represents a remark of 14 popular love songs. The number 14 is also a reference to February 14-Valentine's Day.

One face, seven songs on the A side, represents the bright and joyful side of love. It is like a red rose, full of promises and happiness. The second side projects the pain, the sadness and despair of lost love-like a violet rose.

"My team and I had a long list of old songs. We chose 14 songs which are most suitable for me. Most of them are already my favourites and include songs by famous artists such as Bird, Billy, Micro and P'Tooh. I'm very glad to be singing their songs," Nicole said.

Her most favourite song is Sabai Sabai sung by Bird Thongchai. She said that Sabai Sabai is song which she was most proud to sing because it is an immortal song originally sung by P'Bird.

Ther Ru Rua Plao means herself. It is composed by the Baitong team or professional producers consisting of three persons: P' Dee or Nitipong, P' Nim or Sripha, and P' Van or Chakrawoot. This song was composed by P' Dee or Nitipong.

Her most difficult song is Roon Rang Rua Guern,Micro. This song is a rock song which made a great demand on her vocal stamina.

This album is not easy and also is not difficult. It is easy because all the songs are already familiar to her. It is difficult because they had all been popular in the past and she could not simply sing them straight, like to original singers. She had to put herself-her personality-into them.

"I don't mind if I'm compared to those singers because I try and do my best. I think that it's like a remix album using only one singer to sing," she said.

"My working rule as a singer is try to catch the attention of the audience in a concert from the start to the end. If I succeed, it is successful. I don't care what the turnover might be because there are still pirate tape cassettes and CDs," Nicole expressed her determination.
